The now-former president of the HNS Davor Šuker said his goodbyes after more than nine years at the helm of the Croatian Football Federation.
“As I end my time as the president of the Croatian Football Federation, I want to look back at the past nine years at the head of our FA, during which I gave my all for Croatian football every hour of every day. I did my best to use my experience and knowledge to make the HNS the most successful sports organization in Croatia, and I think I succeeded in that regard. In addition, the HNS has become a recognizable brand in the past years, and it has managed to surpass the boundaries of sports, as we reached new heights in all segments. Of course, I couldn’t have done this alone, and I want to thank everyone who I worked with in creating this beautiful sports story. I am immensely pride of the fact that the HNS reached its biggest success in history during my time as president – our silver medal at the 2018 World Cup in Russia might be the biggest success of not just Croatian football, but of Croatian sports in general. So many moments from Russia will remain an indelible part of my dearest football memories. I am happy that I got to take part in the biggest successes of Croatian football as both a player and as president – starting with the bronze medal in France in 1998, and then going on to the silver medal in Russia twenty years later. Those moments will live forever,” said Šuker.
