Football training and the “New Neighbours” team
During the third season, regular recreational training sessions were organized for the informal “New Neighbours” team, bringing together 25 adult refugees and migrants. Training sessions were held every Saturday in Zagreb, with participants coming from various countries in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
These football activities enabled regular physical exercise, development of team spirit, adoption of fair-play values and the creation of social connections within the local community.

Croatian language and culture course
An intensive Croatian language and culture course was conducted twice a week in one beginner and two advanced groups, focusing on practical everyday communication.
In addition to language learning, participants attended interactive workshops and used adapted materials to learn about Croatian culture, customs and the social context, further supporting their integration.

Participation in the Zagreb Film Festival
CKD took part in the Zagreb Film Festival through the intercultural programme “Welcome to ZFF.” Four films were screened with Arabic and Ukrainian subtitles, followed by creative workshops for children and young people, including Arabic calligraphy, jewellery-making and art workshops.

Social and cultural integration
CKD also participated in the Oriental Fusion Stars Festival in Zagreb. On 18 December 2025, marking International Migrants Day, a gathering for children and families was organized, featuring the puppet show “Hedgehog’s Home,”promoting belonging, solidarity and togetherness. The performance was also held for hospitalized children at the Zagreb Children’s Hospital.

Educational support
Throughout the season, CKD continued supporting the education of children granted international protection by donating school supplies, textbooks and manuals, highlighting education as a key factor in early integration.
Cultural mediation and translation
Cultural mediation and translation services were provided to project beneficiaries and their families, assisting with medical visits, administrative procedures, employment and everyday situations, making adaptation to the new environment easier.
Visibility and promotion
The project was promoted through training for librarians of the Zagreb City Libraries and was highlighted at the European level as a positive example of using football to combat discrimination and racism while encouraging social inclusion.
Project continuation
With the completion of its third season in 2025, the value of the partnership between HNS and CKD has been reaffirmed. The project “New Neighbours – Integration through Football” will continue next season, further developing integration activities and strengthening the role of football as a tool for social cohesion.
