In Zagreb, the UEFA FDEP 2 (Football Doctor Education Programme) — a specialized medical course titled “Injuries in Football” — was successfully completed. The event took place at the facilities of the HNS Football Academy in the Sava Sport Center.
The course is part of the long‑standing educational programme for football medical staff under UEFA’s FDEP, and it brought together doctors from SuperSport HNL, SuperSport HNLŽ, and SuperSport HMNL, as well as doctors and physiotherapists responsible for Croatia’s national teams (various age groups). The aim was to further enhance professional knowledge in the field of sports medicine related to football.
The education programme focused on modern approaches to injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment, with special emphasis on practical workshops, which formed the largest part of the instruction. Significant attention was given to improving communication within medical teams and promoting effective collaboration with coaching staff and other stakeholders in the football environment.

Through interactive work, exchange of experience, and practical examples from daily clinical and field practice, participants were able to acquire knowledge that aligns with the latest UEFA medical guidelines and standards.
“Such educational programmes are extremely important for the continuous professional development of football medical personnel. I thank all the lecturers for the exceptionally high‑quality programme and for sharing their extensive knowledge and experience through practical workshops and discussion groups. I am especially pleased with the high level of engagement from participants, whose active involvement, exchange of experiences and constructive discussions greatly contributed to the quality of the course. The Croatian Football Federation will continue to organize such courses as part of its multi‑year education programme under UEFA, with the goal of further improving medical care in football,” said prof. dr. sc. Mario Starešinić, Chairman of the HNS Health Committee.

A total of 50 participants took part in the symposium, including doctors and physiotherapists responsible for youth national teams of HNS, as well as medical staff from SuperSport HNL, SuperSport HNLŽ and SuperSport HMNL. The organisation and professional leadership of the symposium were led by the HNS Health Committee, chaired by prof. dr. sc. Mario Starešinić.
Fifteen lecturers - mostly from Zagreb, along with guest experts from other regions - delivered professional presentations and workshops on current topics in sports medicine, especially regarding injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment in football.
The symposium was opened by Zorislav Srebrić, Senior Adviser to the President of HNS, and with this course, the Croatian Football Federation has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the development and systematic education of qualified medical personnel, which is a crucial part of the overall football system.
