Zagreb and Beli Manastir to host UEFA Grassroots Week

UEFA Grassroots Week honours coaches, volunteers, clubs, schools and all those who, through their dedication and effort, make football accessible to everyone. Football is for all, and it is at the grassroots level that children create their first memories, develop a love for the game, and build values that last a lifetime.

The first festival will be held on 21 September in Zagreb, at the NK Lokomotiva grounds, with around 200 children from kindergartens, primary schools, and children with developmental difficulties taking part.

The second festival will follow on 30 September in Beli Manastir, at the City Stadium, bringing together 300 children – both girls and boys – from kindergartens, primary schools, and the local club.

“UEFA Grassroots Week is a wonderful opportunity to highlight how important football is at the local level and how much it means to children, coaches, volunteers and clubs throughout Croatia. We are especially delighted to have two festivals this year – in Zagreb and Beli Manastir – where children will experience, through play and joy, what football truly represents. Grassroots is the foundation of our game, where children develop their love for football and values that last a lifetime”, said Helenna Hercigonja-Moulton, grassroots manager at the Croatian Football Federation.

UEFA Grassroots Week reminds us that grassroots football is the beginning of everything – it is the foundation of the game, the place where future stars take their first steps, and where communities stay connected through football.
