With financial support from FIFA, the Croatian Football Federation will soon transition to producing all player sports identification cards and football official membership cards directly from the HNS competition management system.

Representatives from all of Croatia’s registration centers met with HNS’ project coordinators on May 16 in Zagreb in order to learn about the process of producing the new cards and to receive the necessary printers and supplies.

This project is an important step in digitalizing HNS’s registration process and will contribute to significant advancements in competition management on all levels of football in Croatia. The membership cards of all those who participate in competitions (including coaches, referees, delegates, doctors, and club representatives) will be produced by applying information imported directly from HNS’s competition management system onto PVC cards of a standardized size. Licensing of coaches and all other officials for a given competitive season will also be done in the same way, which will help standardize the look of all official ID cards issued by HNS.

The project was initiated and executed by HNS executive director Marijan Kustić, head of international affairs and licensing Ivančica Sudac, president of the Player and Club Registration Committee Robert Uroić, IT coordinator Nikša Martinac, and head of the HNS Football Academy Vatroslav Mihačić.

In order to supply all HNS registration centers with the necessary devices, the Croatian FA received funds of nearly one million HRK from the FIFA Forward Development Programme, which aims to help national football associations in developing football in their countries. Registration centers are situated in HNS football centers, in county football federations and their corresponding football centers, and in the HNS central offices. Each of these registration centers will be supplied with high-quality PVC card printers and with a certain amount of supplies such as toners and PVC cards.

This project will deepen the FA’s usage of all of the capabilities of the HNS competition management system, while the PVC cards themselves will allow for numerous positive changes – such as licensed doctors being able to log whether a player has passed the necessary health checks directly in the competition management system. The system will therefore not allow a player who has not undergone a medical examination to appear on a match sheet, while the QR code on the player’s ID card will allow the responsible match officials to check the player’s identity and health status via their smartphone.

The digitalization of identification cards will also contribute to faster and more standardized production of match sheets, as well as more streamlined business processes at all levels.
