Football returns to Slavonia villages

HNS renovates football grounds in Eastern Slavonia

This summer, four football grounds in Eastern Slavonia villages were renovated, following the catastrophic floods of 2014.

Croatian Football Federation has promptly reacted, securing HRK 9,479,470 to aid the flooded regions. Besides HNS and Croatia internationals' donations, the aid has come from UEFA (EUR 500,000) and FIFA (USD 600,000).

When Croatian Football Federation has secured funding through FIFA and UEFA and completed technical preparations, four football grounds in Eastern Slavonia have been renovated - in Račinovci, Strošinci, Posavski Podgajci, and Drenovci.

All four grounds are now equipped with pitch watering systems, with the owners taking over regarding ground care. All grounds are functional.

The Gunja football ground will be renovated together with the stadium. The preparations are underway to select the contractors.

Alongside these ground renovation works, Croatian Football Federation has financially aided the clubs and the residents via local government, Red Cross, and Caritas, in the total amount of HRK 2,493,000.
