Josip Tomaško was born on 4 August 1989 in Zagreb and has been serving as General Secretary of the Croatian Football Federation since 14 January 2026.
After completing the XIth Gymnasium in Zagreb, Tomaško enrolled at the Faculty of Kinesiology, where he earned a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sports Management. In 2024, he obtained a PhD in the scientific field of Kinesiology.
In May 2012, he completed an education programme of the European Association for Sport Management in Germany, earning a certificate in International Sports Marketing. In 2015, he completed UEFA’s “Certificate in Football Management”, and in 2021 he successfully graduated from the prestigious UEFA “Diploma in Football Leadership and Management” programme as one of its top participants.
Since 2013, Tomaško has been working at the Croatian Football Federation as Secretary of Youth National Teams. In 2022, he was appointed Head of the International Affairs Department, and in September 2025 he was appointed Deputy General Secretary and Head of Competitions of the Croatian Football Federation.
During his administrative career at the Federation, Tomaško has taken part in numerous European and World Championships with youth national teams, served as Tournament Director of many UEFA and international friendly tournaments hosted by the Croatian Football Federation, and from 2015 to 2017 acted as Project Manager for the organisation of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, held in Croatia in 2017.
Since 2021, he has been a UEFA match delegate at international fixtures. In 2023, he became a member of UEFA’s National Team Competitions Committee. In the same year, he was appointed a member of the Croatian Olympic Committee’s International Relations Commission, and a year later he was named Chairman of the Croatian Football Federation’s Football Agents Committee.
Dr Tomaško lives in Zagreb with his wife and two children.
