The Croatian Football Federation and the “Plavi Cvijet” Association continue their successful cooperation through the joint project AUT Football Camp, initiated in honour of the 10th anniversary of the UEFA Foundation for Children.

In May 2025, the Croatian Football Federation launched a partnership with the “Plavi Cvijet” Association from Slavonski Brod, selected as a partner for a special inclusion-focused project supported by the UEFA Foundation for Children.

The “Plavi Cvijet” Association brings together parents, caregivers, and both children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The organisation currently supports 73 beneficiaries and more than 150 members, with its mission focused on providing assistance, support, and raising awareness about autism and related developmental disorders.

Therapeutic component of the project

As part of the project, a one-year contract was signed with a physiotherapist employed on a part-time basis. The therapist had previously worked with the association through a programme funded by the Ministry of Health, but this additional funding made it possible to include over 10 new beneficiaries in regular weekly therapy sessions. The therapies began in May and will continue throughout the year.

In addition, a final-year occupational therapy student was engaged to conduct individually tailored playrooms and developmental sessions. Since the start of the project, around 10 children have been involved in weekly activities. In the first four months alone, more than 120 individual sessions were held, and by the end of the project it is expected that approximately 20 children will take part in the programme, each for several months.

AUT Football Camp

The sports component of the project includes six football camp sessions held on various football fields across Slavonski Brod. The aim is to provide professional guidance for children with autism spectrum disorder, support the development of their motor skills and social abilities, and strengthen an inclusive sports community in the city.

So far, two camps have been held, including one hosted by NK Graničar, with four more scheduled. Each camp brings together more than 30 beneficiaries and their parents, who all take part in shared activities. The children show visible progress, improved confidence, and growing independence, while parents appreciate the opportunity for rest, support, and connection with other families.
