Platini: "The nomination of Mr Šuker is an important thing"

At UEFA Ordinary Congress in Vienna on Tuesday, a new Executive Committee was elected. Among the nominated candidates was Croatian Football Federation president Davor Šuker.

Šuker was elected to the highest UEFA executive body, where he brings his rich international playing experience.

"The nomination of Mr Šuker is an important thing", said UEFA president Michel Platini.

"There have been nominations of famous former players in national associations such as Mr Boniek and Mr Savićević among others. All of them have the ambition to go one step further and add their own experience of European football. It is an interesting and important trend and I think it is one that suits the current period of time", added Platini, himself being a legend of French, European and world football.
