Kustić and Colleagues Host DFB Officials

Joining President Marijan Kustić were Secretary General Tomislav Svetina, Technical Director for the A and U-21 National Teams Stipe Pletikosa, Head of International Relations Josip Tomaško, and Head of Communications Tomislav Pacak.

From the DFB side, along with President Neuendorf, present were Patrick Montgomery Wolf, Director of International Relations, and Jürgen Eißmann, Executive Director of the bid to host the Women’s Euro.

President Neuendorf and his team outlined Germany’s proposal, noting that in addition to Germany, Poland, Portugal, and a joint bid from Denmark and Sweden are also candidates to host the Women’s Euro 2029. The final decision on hosting will be made by UEFA’s Executive Committee in December, of which HNS President Marijan Kustić is a member.

“I thank President Neuendorf and his colleagues for presenting their candidacy in detail. Alongside Germany’s impressive stadium and other infrastructure, we were struck by the desire, passion, and ambition with which they have approached this project. Taking into account the highly successful EURO 2024, there is no doubt in my mind that Germany would be an excellent host if selected. This year’s EURO in Switzerland confirmed the high level of popularity and quality in women’s football in Europe, and I am confident that the next edition will affirm that strong upward trend”, said HNS President Marijan Kustić.

The DFB delegation also attended the Croatia – Montenegro match in Maksimir on Monday, where President Neuendorf praised the passion of the Croatian fans and thanked HNS for their hospitality:

“Croatian football has for years achieved truly impressive results on the world stage, especially considering the size of the country. It was a pleasure to see last night how passionately your fans support your national team. Thank you to President Kustić for the gracious reception and for giving us the opportunity to present our vision for Euro 2029. We are deeply convinced that Germany would make an excellent host for this competition and it would be an honor for us to contribute to the further growth of women’s football in Europe. We have a rich tradition of women’s football, we have selected excellent host cities and great stadiums, and we see this tournament as a strategic priority for our association in the coming period”.

At the end of the meeting, Presidents Kustić and Neuendorf exchanged personalized jerseys of the Croatian and German national teams, wishing each other success in the ongoing European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
