Diego Maradona passes away
Šuker: "He leaves as the greatest"

Aged 60, Diego Armando Maradona - regarded by many as the best footballer of all time - passed away.
Shortly after his 60th birthday (30 October), the Argentine magician underwent surgery due to brain haemorrhage, and on 25 November his heart stopped beating. In mid-November, he was released to home care, but his medical condition remained mainly unknown, until the sad news arrived.
"It is always difficult when a friend leaves, and I can say that Diego Maradona was a true friend of mine. He leaves as the greatest footballer on the planet, a magician who could really do everything with the ball. He was a born winner, a player for the greatest of matches and achievements, a leader both on and off the field. The one and only, an irreplaceable El Pibe de Oro. I am proud to have shared the dressing room with him during our days at Sevilla FC. Now, when in these difficult moments I remember those times, I see images of him - he with the assists, and I with the goals. It was a privilege to play with Diego and celebrate victories together. On behalf of the Croatian Football Federation, and my own, I would like to express deepest condolences to his family", said Croatian Football Federation president Davor Šuker.
