On Tuesday, UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin visited Zagreb, met prime minister Plenković and president Grabar-Kitarović, and held a press-conference.

Croatian Football Federation and president Davor Šuker hosted the newly-appointed UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, who visited HNS headquarters and was introduced to HNS staff.

"I am happy that UEFA president visits Croatia, we hope he can help us with his experience and vision", said Šuker at the joint press-conference in Zagreb.

Čeferin held meetings with Croatian prime minister Andrej Plenković and Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

"I am glad that one of my first official visits is to our dear neighbours of Croatia. Croatia is a football phenomenon, a miracle on the field of play, but there are issues to be solved. Unfortunately, Croatian football is not known exclusively for the phenomenal players. All national federations have certain issues, and the key problems in Croatia are hooligan-related incidents that can lead to drastic measures, and relatively poor infrastructure, compared to similar countries", he summarized.

"I have spoken with the prime minister about the fans and infrastructure. UEFA assists HNS on infrastructure issues and will continue to do so, but HNS needs the local and government support on major projects. Prime minister Plenković has promised to help. UEFA has no mechanism to sanction the fans, and I have warned both Plenković and Šuker that there is a possibility of most severe sanctions for Croatian football - the national team and the clubs. HNS and state government must react", added Čeferin.
